What to expect


Free consultation

I invite you to have an initial 15-minute consultation over the phone for free. This gives you an opportunity to give me a brief overview of your reasons for seeking therapy and will allow you to get a feel for me, as a practitioner and person, and the way I work. You of course will be very welcome to ask any questions you may have.

Assessment session

Before starting therapy, we will meet for an assessment session. Although the word ‘assessment’ can sound quite serious, this is simply a session where we discuss and explore your past and present as well as your goals for the future. This allows us to see how I can help you with the struggles and challenges bringing you to therapy. Should we feel that another source of support might be more useful for you, I can signpost you to relevant practitioners and/or services. There is no obligation to continue therapy after this session.

Sessions

After the assessment session, we will begin our therapy together. Sessions are 50 minutes long. We will meet weekly on the same day and time. We will regularly review how you are getting on. Depending on your goals, we can engage in either shorter-term therapy (up to 16 sessions) or open-ended longer-term therapy. The length of therapy can be flexibily reviewed throughout our work together.
